The article below points out that two of the atrocious recent cases of infanticide both occurred in Iowa.

Although the Safe Haven laws have been in effect since 2001, the last baby saved by Safe Haven in Iowa was in 2009.  This actually makes sense.  If stories of safely relinquished infants had been in the news, perhaps these tragedies would not have occurred.  It is not really an excuse though.  Safe Haven should be mentioned at all high schools and by parents in all households.  It is unfortunate that most states cannot afford to promote them.
