I have a bit of a mystery for you today. A 4-year-old little boy was dropped off at a Houston fire station. He was well over the age limits for Safe Haven, but the fire station accepted him to help keep him safe. The mysterious part is, the woman who dropped him off was not his legal guardian.
This brings up a lot of questions. Will the actual parents of the child be charged for abandoning the child with this woman? Have they given up their rights? If this woman changes her mind within 30 days, does she have any right to take back her decision since she is not the legal guardian? As far as I know this is new ground for Safe Haven. I will be very interested to see how the situation plays out.
