As I begin to write about today’s article, I am very much at a loss for words. There have been very few occasions when words fail me, but this is such a heart-breaking story.
Lindsey Lowe, 25, gave birth to twin boys a few weeks ago. She was at home when she went into labor and when the first baby boy was delivered he began to cry, as babies do. Lowe was afraid her parents would hear and put her hand over the boy’s mouth… until he died. When the second twin was delivered… she did the same thing. She then hid the tiny bodies of both newborns in a laundry basket. I do not have any idea what her plan was at that point, but her father found them in the basket some time later.
No one had any ideas as to why she felt so strongly that her parents could not find out. They are a religious family who looked to their pastor to help them through the police investigation. Surely they could have helped her make a decision about the babies that would have had a much better result. Safe. Haven.
