Today’s article reflects on the two recent tragedies in Hendersonville: the Bi-Lo incident and the murder of the newborn twins, both previously reported on here at One By One Safe Haven.

Again, there is one part of the article I would like to highlight.  It mentions that Safe Haven protects babies and secrets.  This is a good point.  There is a lot of shame involved when a mother chooses to give up her child.  I do not agree with it, but some people look down upon a woman who willfully abandons a child, even if it is done in a responsible way like utilizing a safe haven.  So, another thing a safe haven provides is protection of that secret if the parent wants it to be one.  No one ever has to know.  One of the best things about Safe Haven laws is that every single parent, if they follow the law, can remain completely anonymous.
