In all my time with this organization I have never seen a story quite like this.

This is a story of infant abandonment which may not involve any infant abandonment.  Confused?  A man found a box with a note next to his recycling bin.  That note was a mother’s plea for whoever found it, to take care of her 4-month-old daughter Sonny.  The child was never found.  Police even searched through the local recycling center which has 100 tons of material.

Police hope the note was a hoax.  Otherwise, exactly what we fear from infant abandonment has happened.  This is the reason it is never okay to abandon an infant in an unsafe location.  If this is not a hoax, there are infinite possibilities as to what could have happened to this baby… and not many of them are good.
