This is an extremely short article, but it brings up a great point that we have not mentioned in a while.
What do you think is the appropriate age limit for Safe Haven? Anyone familiar with these laws, I am sure, heard about the disaster that happened in my home state of Nebraska when the laws initially went into effect without an age limit. Parents dropped off children as old at 17 at a hospital because they could no longer care for them. There is no telling what sort of psychological damage was done to these children who were old enough to comprehend that they had been abandoned.
Then, of course an age limit with too short a window may scare parents into doing something drastic if they do not feel like they have any alternatives. It is certainly a difficult conundrum, but I definitely think 3 days is far too short. You?
