Just when I think the articles I read for this website can’t get any stranger…

Two people, Alberto Giubilini and Francesca Minerva actually published a paper in the Journal of Medical Ethics advocating baby murder.  No, I am not kidding.  They justified that if a baby is unwanted or puts undue burden financially on a family, it should be allowed to kill them.  They call it after-birth abortion.  They believe that since abortion is legal, this non-personhood should be extended for a while after a child is born.  That way if the family cannot care for it- like if the baby has many medical complications, for example- no one would be charged with murder because he or she is not a person yet.  Have these people never heard of adoption?  A baby definitely is a financial burden, but there are many, many people who would love to take on that burden.

Giubilini and Minerva are actually not the first people to propose a concept like this.  Click here to read the rest of this article.
