This article isn’t exactly up our alley as far as promotion of Safe Haven Laws, but I just couldn’t resist sharing the story with you today.
A baby named Maisy was unwanted and left on an orphanage doorstep in China because of a facial deformity. This specific deformity is supposedly a bad omen in Chinese culture. Thankfully, a woman in Oklahoma, Amy Root, saw a picture of her and instantly fell in love with the little girl. After bringing her home, she took Maisy to a doctor to see what could be done for her. A team of doctors helped to rid the baby of the disfigurement through a nine hour long medical procedure.
This really goes to show you, my friends, that there are so many people out there that wish every day for a child to care for. There are so many families just waiting to be completed by a child. There is no excuse for not leaving an unwanted child at a safe location so that a good home can be found for them.
