Back in 1993 before the Safe Haven Laws existed, Mariah’s mother showed up at a Norfolk, Virginia hospital to give birth telling the staff that she wished to give the baby up for adoption. Four hours after baby Mariah was born, a hospital worker found that the mother had left. Baby Mariah was placed in foster care with an amazing woman named Moira- who was physically unable to have a baby but had always wished for one- who eventually adopted her.
