Abandoned infant discovered! You won’t believe where…
The importance of spreading the word about Safe Haven laws grows each day we see news stories like this: a newborn baby abandoned in the toilet of a South Carolina grocery store. As unbelievable and shocking as it may be, this is only the most recent appalling account of infant abandonment. We continue to see it happen time and again.
Thankfully, this story was not one of tragedy. Although in danger of hypothermia at the time of discovery, this baby is alive and seemingly well. Even more heartening, many offers of adoption came in shortly after the news report first broke. Each year many other babies are not as lucky. This mother was unaware of the Safe Haven laws in her state which would have allowed her to place the child in the care of any local hospital or police station without fear of punishment. Please help us make sure other parents get the information. A child’s life could depend on it.
