A 2-3 month old baby was found on the steps of a high school recently.
No report was published as to how the mother was located, but it turned out to be a 37-year-old woman who lived in the area. The baby girl seemed reseasonably well-cared for, but did have a bruise on her forehead. Although high shools are not approved drop-off locations under the Safe Haven Laws, police say she will not face charges unless a medical examination reveals intentional abuse.
I would love to hear your thoughts on this. Typically, the infants we see dropped off at Safe Haven locations belong to young, uneducated girls. Should the woman be held to a different standard for her poor choice as she presumably should have known better?
