To switch things up a bit, today’s article does not pertain to Safe Haven Laws exactly, but it does deal with child abandonment. 

A man named Lynn Dexter Bailey Jr. was arrested for leaving his toddler at the scene of a crash.  Police were called to an area in Chesterfield, VA to investigate a suspicious vehicle.  When Bailey noticed the police car, he sped away and crashed his car into a ditch.  Both he and the mother fled the vehicle leaving the child behind.

He will face charges of child neglect and eluding police among other things.

If they care so little about the well-being of this child, perhaps a Safe Haven should have been considered when he was born.
